Lord Jonathan Sumption is an author, medieval historian, barrister and former senior judge of the UK Supreme Court. His recent piece in the New York Times on why cultural decline in the US could pose a threat to democracy made waves on both sides of the pond. For the first time since the inauguration of Donald Trump, he joins UnHerd to discuss what he has observed of the American system and why he chose to ring the alarm.
